SKATE NEWS

Pete Eldridge has never had it easy. He's always had the talent but for years, it seems like all his good hookups would always fall through in some way. I've known Pete through skating and friends in common for a long time. I won't claim we're tight bros, but I've always had respect for the dude. Way back when (and I'm talking about the late '90s now), Pete was a young buck coming up out of Pennington, Jersey and rode for a little company called Uptown. Though that company never really blew up in the game, it had some ill riders including Pennsylvania underground legend, Chris Yourgalite.

As a young prepubescent boy, in my wildest dreams I would have never imagined that smut and skateboarding (my two passions, not necessarily in that order) would have joined forces so harmoniously. First, Zoo York Skateboards has teamed up with veteran adult film star, Jenna Jameson to produce this exclusive collaboration deck. They'll be only 500 of these barely legal planks, so you'll need to get on one fast. To me, it's a dream come true, really. Then, just when I thought skateboarding had adopted all the pornography it's innocent heart could handle, I got word of this sh*t. Yep, Vivid Entertainment, the gigantic adult film production company has signed a licensing agreement with Canadian skateboard manufacturer, Control MFG to create a line of limited edition decks featuring a bunch of famed "Vivid Girls." Will shops be stocking these explicit decks in black bags the way Randy Colvin's controversial World Industries "Censorship" model had been back in the day? We'll have to wait and see.

Tanner Skatepark Demo and Contest This Weekend
Now, flipping the script abruptly here, let's talk about this weekend. It's Friday and beginning tomorrow, there's going to be a fantastical skateboard event taking place at the Tanner Skatepark in Long Island. Tomorrow, Oct. 18 will kick things off with a demo from LI skate companies, Hazel and Prize Fighter Cutlery. Be sure to get there early to catch a glimpse of some of NY's most underated young hopefuls. The following day, Sunday, Oct. 19, they'll be a contest open to any youngster who's feeling particularly good that day. They'll be free giveaways from tons of sponsors like Hazel, Prize Fighter, Substance, DC, UXA, Vans, Emerica, Red Bull and more. Both events start at 12 noon. Tanner is located on Wilson Avenue, right off the Montauk Highway in Copiague. If that doesn't mean anything to you, either Mapquest that sh*t or ask you Mom or Pops for a ride. I'm sure they'll be down.

5boro Skateboards

5boro Hits The Blvd & Jamestown Skatepark

If you happen to be in the Newport, Rhode Island area tomorrow, Oct. 18, you're gonna want to swing by The Blvd Skatshop. They'll be an instore signing by the 5boro team at 2PM, followed by an extensive demo at the Jamestown Skatepark at 3PM. And if you haven't picked up Danny Falla's debut 5boro board, you should do that today and get it prepped for him to sign. If you didn't already know, Falla's from Queens and one of NYC's finest. Hell yeah, Falla. Hell f&*%in yeah.

Ben Gore got on Stereo

Ben Gore has been a stylish underground ripper gaining attention from the right people for a while now. The Florida native popped up and made an impression in the montages of Josh Stewart's videos as well as a standout part in 411 14.3 (shortly before that company went to the big vhs player in the sky). After a brief stint on Rasa Libre, Ben's been picked up by the Stereo Sound Agency and he's turning up the volume now. —Josh Brooks
