SKATEBOARDING NEWS/ PRODUCTS NEWS UPDATES

The folks at the AST Dew announce Eric Koston's involvement in the Portland stop of the 2008 Dew Tour. It came as very welcome news, considering the mediocre roster of street skaters traditionally involved. In related news, the event organizers also announced their brand-new plaza-inspired street course. It'll be interesting to see how this improves/disrupts the choreographed runs of yore. Good moves on both fronts guys—it may just be enough to convince more legit pros to do the Dew.

SKATEBOARDING NEWS/ PRODUCTS NEWS UPDATES

It seems like it was ages ago that Thrasher's most recent "Skater Of The Year," Marc Johnson, rode for Emerica. By todays skate industry standards, it kind of was. Either way, once upon a time MJ rode for Emerica and yes, he had himself a pro model shoe. And this one was a classic. Myself and others even claimed the shoe to be the best ever made, for skateboarding that is. Well Emerica has just announced the revival of the shoe and has even gone as far as to call it "An Emerican Original." They ain't lying. I'm pretty sure this one won't have MJ's name on it and that he won't be receiving royalties, but from the looks of the released pic, it looks exactly the same as the OG model. This one will be in skate shops everywhere in Spring 2009. Eat right and start exercising now. You don't want to die before this thing drops. While we're on the topic of MJ and his days on Emerica, here's his classic video part from Emerica's 1997 video release, Yellow.

Thrasher's main photo guy, Michael Burnett has been traveling around with the Baker/Deathwish crew for the past few weeks. He's kept a nice blog documenting the demos, travels and hijinx of the said crew. Check it out here at the Burnout section of Thrasher's site. Slap Magazine has posted a sick little tour article with photos of 5boro's recent tour of Peru. East Coast legend and the man with some serious pop, Brian Tucci has a nice interview and video section over at 48 Blocks
