GATORADE FREE FLOW TOUR ANNOUNCES 2010 SCHEDULE
Sixth Season of Amateur Skate Series Includes Dept of Skate, Kona and Epic; Registration Now Open at gatoradefreeflowtour.com
Burr Ridge, Ill. – April 26, 2010 – Seeking the best amateur skateboarders across the country, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour today announced the complete skate schedule for the 2010 season. Hosting a total of 30 skate park and vert contests at 23 parks this summer, the Tour officially kicks off May 22 in Rye, N.H. at Rye Airfield. Registration for all events is now open at gatoradefreeflowtour.com.
Highlighting the 2010 schedule, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour returns to standout parks Department of Skateboarding (Portland, Ore.) – who hosted the Tour in 2005-06 – and Kona Skatepark (Jacksonville, Fla.), who hosted in 2008 and produced GFFT skate park champion Timmy Knuth.
A first for the amateur circuit, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will raise the age limit of all of its skate contests to 21.
“We are excited about the stellar park lineup for the upcoming season of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour,” said Kenny Mitchell, action sports team manager for Gatorade. “And opening skate up to a new age range allows us to bring the 2010 Tour to a whole new group of young skaters so Gatorade can continue to fuel the progression of action sports by helping identify the best amateur talent out there.”
The sole skatepark that has been a part of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour since its inception, Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas, Calif. will host a stop for the sixth consecutive year. The roster of top skateparks for the 2010 Tour also includes the additions of Plan 9 in St. Louis, Mo., Skate City in Las Vegas, Nev., McDonough, Ga.’s Hazard County and the Skatebarn in Seattle, Wash.
The Gatorade Free Flow Tour returns to the Skatelab (Simi Valley, Calif., third consecutive year) and Epic Skatepark (Rocklin, Calif., second year in a row) as well.
Last year, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour crowned two overall champions – Jack Olson in skate park and Clay Kreiner in skate vert. Other past Gatorade Free Flow Tour skate park champions include Jeff Ward (2005), David Loy (’06) and Chaz Ortiz (’07, Dew Cup winner in 2008) and Timmy Knuth (’08), along with skate vert champions Ben Hatchell (’07) and Paul-Luc Ronchetti (’08).
The 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour will include a total of 30 skateboarding competitions (seven skate vert and 23 skate park) at 23 parks across the United States. The winners in each of the 30 competitions will be flown to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, taking place in conjunction with the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 16-19. Encompassing the “Flow to Pro” theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, the two overall skate champions will earn a spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the 2010 Dew Tour season, October 14-17 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
2010 REGISTRATION
All competitions are open to both male and female amateur competitors 21 and younger for all skate disciplines. There is a $15 entry fee, and all participants under the age of 18 must bring a parent or guardian to the event to sign a liability waiver. Contest registration forms, waivers and detailed information are available ahead of time at gatoradefreeflowtour.com.

The mission of the Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF) is to use skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness and the development of life skills. To that end, the Harold Hunter Foundation teamed up with Camp Woodward to provide deserving NYC youth with the opportunity of a lifetime – an all-expense paid, one-week session at the country’s premier skateboarding camp and facility.
Since the scholarship’s inception in 2007, the Harold Hunter Foundation has sent sixteen skaters to Camp Woodward, with more on the way. To ensure it is an experience they will never forget, campers receive round-trip transportation, spending money, and they are outfitted with skateboarding gear donated by a range of generous brands. In exchange for their scholarship, campers are required to volunteer in their local community under the guidance of Harold Hunter Foundation board members.
With summer fast approaching, the Harold Hunter Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2010 Scholarship. To be considered, an online application must be submitted by May 7th with applicants needing to meet the following criteria:
* Must be between 7–17 years old (as of August 1, 2010)
* Must reside in New York City
* Must be unable to attend Camp Woodward without financial assistance
* Must have health insurance
The 2010 Harold Hunter Foundation Woodward Scholarship application is available by clicking here, and for more information about obtaining free and low-cost health insurance for NYC youth, please visit the Child Health Plus Web site.
