This giveaway is serious! Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and all of Rob’s sponsors are ready to hook you up. One grand prize winner will get a Rob Dyrdek skate setup (Alien Workshop deck, Silver trucks, Alien Workshop wheels), TransWorld T-shirt, a pair of DC Shoes and a one-year subscription to TWS. Ten runners up will get a copy of the Fantasy Factory Season 1 DVD.

Here’s what you gotta do to win: Come up with the most insane stunt Rob should pull next. Get creative and post your answer in the comment boxes below the Fantasy Factory trailer.

“On DVD now! Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory won’t find our skateboarding hero lounging around and scheming at the familiar Rob & Big house in the Hollywood Hills. Instead Rob is commanding operations in a massive, 25,00-square-foot industrial – and fully skate-able – warehouse and office complex near downtown Los Angeles. This is the new home of Dyrdek Enterprises, the veritable nerve center and hatching ground for all of Rob’s crazy schemes, business plans and uniquely ridiculous ideas. Rob is a hustler, with a laundry list of business ventures he’s trying to chase down. The MTV series Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory documents the ridiculous action and comedy that seems to follow everything he takes on. Get ready to experience Rob Dyrdek on a whole new level.”

"Do you think this would look good in the gallery?" Alex Olson scopes a potential gallery piece. Kickflip.
Not only is Alex Olson unique in that he is the first son of a former pro skateboarder (Steve Olson) to go pro himself or in his style-oriented, flowing approach to skateboarding, but he just curated a show at the Quicksilver/Autumn pop-up shop/gallery. Noah Johnson caught up with him to learn more about the show, how it came about and Alex's current take on skating. See it here

Here’s the official winning video entry for Skate & Create II from etnies. See the photos from The Legend Of Boxton Square in our October issue and for more photos and videos from 2009’s Skate & Create contest, click HERE.

Intro by Terry Snyder, etnies Art Director
We aired out a lot of ideas leading up to S&C, but it was Mike Manzoori’s dream sequence storyboard filled with a cardboard city that had us sold. It fit what we wanted to do visually—the photos and video would be equally striking, and it was “do-able.” The props were lightweight, mostly recycled, the unknown obstacles could be styled to match our set, the video had a beginning, middle, and end, and it was guaranteed to be unique. The stage was set.

Enter Sean Malto… the perfect person to carry out the lighthearted storyline. The story actually starts at TransWorld’s warehouse when he receives a package and finds himself getting sucked into Boxton Square, a cardboard dream city full of places to skate. It was a labor of love for all of us, and it shows through in the photos and video. We couldn’t have asked for a better video director and crew, photographer, set designers, support staff, or team of skateboarders. Everyone ripped.

etnies Teamriders: MVP Sean Malto, Kyle Leeper, Mikey Taylor, Tyler Bledsoe, Davis Torgerson
Directed and Edited by Mike Manzoori
Concept and Creative Direction by Sharon Tomlin
Supervising Art Director Terry Synder

XTREME SINGAPORE 2009 DAY 2

XTREME SINGAPORE 2009 DAY 2.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SKATE COMPETITION .SINGAPORE.

XTREME SKATE PARK OFFICIALLY OPENED.

SINGAPORE: The new S$8 million extreme sports facility at the East Coast Park has officially opened for daredevils to hone their skills on wheels.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched the Xtreme SkatePark and the inaugural extreme championship on Saturday.

80 participants from seven countries in the region are taking part in the two-day competition from August 29 to 30.

The skatepark located at the East Coast Park's energy zone is Singapore's first and only international standard competition facility.

And it is the result of an idea put up by young people during a consultation exercise in 2004.

Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said: "This also represents a transformation of our attitudes as Singaporeans. We used to be very risk-averse. If anything goes wrong, we look for someone to blame.

"This is part of a transformation of attitudes that in life you choose the level of risks you are happy with. Pursue your dreams and go all out and do your best. This also shows the coming of age for sports in Singapore."

The government said it would provide the necessary infrastructure to help Singaporeans realise their interests and talent.

Over the next few months, the National Youth Council will be hosting a series of programmes at the Xtreme SkatePark and they include extreme sports clinics for those who want to hone their skills on extreme skating. - CNA/vm

You probably heard this story by now, but one of our fav site, wwtdd.com, has a hilarious take on it:

“Seeing bears scale walls on ladders puts us one step from living in The Golden Compass, where armored bears form an army of indestructible killing machines, but at least their discovery of this Rosetta Stone, the key to unlocking new ways to catch and eat us, was a random accident that couldn’t be avoided.

‘A bear that got stuck in a skateboard park climbed up a ladder to make its escape. The animal had been stuck in the sunken skating bowl overnight and could not get up the steep-sided concrete walls on its own. Officials in the town of Snowmass, Colorado lowered down a long ladder, which the bear walked across before heading back to the woods. The bear was uninjured by its experience.’

Well Jesus don’t teach the bears how to climb ladders! We need those walls, to separate the bears from our succulent arms and legs. What’s the second part of your plan, coat doorknobs in honey
